Civil Architecture:
While almost all the religious structures were built in granite, it is very unfortunate
that the rulers built their palaces in wood for none of them has survived. Compared
to the original state of the city, the existing ruined specimens are only a few,
representing minor edifices like guards quarters and elephant stables. For civil
architecture, stone was used for the base while various materials like stone,
wood, metal and brick were employed for the superstructure. The buildings were
originally painted and gilded.
